Dear UVU Campus Community,
You have constantly been in my thoughts during this devastating time in our history. The tragic death of Charlie Kirk on our campus on September 10 has shaken our community. We have witnessed a tragic event, but in the coming days, I am confident that our core value of exceptional care will see us through as we begin to move forward.
To every student, staff, faculty, and friend of UVU, please know: You are not alone. We deeply care for you. We share feelings of shock, grief, confusion, and fear as we process what happened in our place of schooling and work — a place that we all love. I encourage you to utilize mental health services for yourself and to share them with anyone who may need comfort or support.

Return to Campus Updates:
We are doing all that we can to ensure that your return to campus is done with care for students, faculty, and staff.
As part of our care for the UVU community, we have chosen a phased return of students, faculty, and staff to campus. First, employees will return to campus on Monday, September 15, 2025, so we may prepare to support our students in their time of need. Second, Student Services will be available beginning Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Third, all classes will resume on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
This is a defining moment for us all. May we not let hatred overshadow the goodness of our UVU community and what we stand for. As we come together and open our hearts to kindness and compassion, we will build an even stronger and more caring campus.
With care,
Dr. Astrid S. Tuminez
President
Utah Valley University
