Dear UVU Community,
Following the tragic events of Wednesday that took the life of Charlie Kirk on our campus, our university has understandably become the focus of intense media attention and public interest. During times like these, our hearts are heavy as we process this senseless loss together.
Unfortunately, we must also remain alert to those who would exploit this tragedy for harmful purposes. Since Wednesday, we have observed a significant increase in hateful, threatening, and abusive communications targeting our university, employees, and students.
Please be especially cautious of:
· Hateful or threatening emails or text messages from unknown senders
· Abusive communications referencing the recent events
· Messages containing threats against individuals or our community
· Communications designed to intimidate, harass, or cause emotional distress
· Suspicious attachments or links that may contain malicious content
What you can do:
Forward any hateful, threatening, malicious, or phishing messages to security@uvu.edu - this ensures proper preservation, investigation, and helps us block future abusive communications.
Do not respond to or engage with threatening or hateful messages
Do not open attachments or click links from unfamiliar or suspicious sources
Trust your instincts. If something feels threatening or malicious, it likely is
Report any concerning communications immediately to help protect our entire community
While we must remain vigilant during this challenging time, it's important to remember that our campus community has shown remarkable strength and unity. Please take care of yourselves and each other. If you have concerns about any communications you've received, don't hesitate to reach out to our security team at security@uvu.edu.
With care and solidarity,
Digital Transformation (Dx)
