(THIS UPDATE IS ONLY A TEST. IT'S PART OF THE "GREAT UTAH SHAKEOUT" EARTHQUAKE DRILL.)
A 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred at 10:15 a.m. this morning. The epicenter was in north Utah County. Classes have been canceled and staff, faculty and students are encouraged to leave the campus as quickly as possible. Those who are injured are still being attended to. If students are unable to stay in their apartments, there are a couple of shelters being set up on campus to accommodate them. The locations will be posted on this site shortly.
If you'd like to get your updates via Twitter or RSS, posts from uvu.info will automatically feed to UVU Emergency on Twitter and the UVU Emergency RSS Feed.
The is an exercise message: Had this been a real earthquake additional information could be accessed by looking at this website. Thanks to the building marshalls for working with their floor captains to determine extent of damage to the buildings and possible injuries. For your information the Building Marshals will not be reporting information to a central location which will be reported to Orem City and Utah County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Again thanks for your participation today., This goes a long way in helping the University prepare for such events.
