When will classes resume for UVU students?
· All in-person and online classes will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025.
Return to Campus — Employees
When will UVU employees return to campus?
· Employees and student hourly employees will return to campus on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025. If an employee needs flexibility, they will work directly with their supervisor.
· Hourly employees will be paid for the hours they would have worked during the campus closure.
Campus Questions
When will Student Services be available?
· Student Services, including Financial Aid and Advising, will be open to students beginning Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Will campus parking be available?
· Parking will return to normal beginning Monday, Sept. 15. For questions about parking, call 801-863-8188 or email parking@uvu.edu.
How can individuals pick up items left on campus?
· Items left on campus can be retrieved beginning Sept. 15, at 2 pm at the UVU Young Living Alumni Center located at 1062 W. 800 S., Orem, UT, 84058. To retrieve possessions, please call UVU Facilities at 801-863-8130 BEFORE COMING TO CAMPUS. Students should not come to campus before Monday, Sept. 15, if they have not first spoken with UVU Facilities.
· Due to the ongoing investigation, items left in the UVU Courtyard and the Losee Center will be available for pickup early next week.
Will restaurants be open on campus?
· UVU Dining Services will be open for regular fall semester hours beginning Monday, Sept. 15.
What do UVU employees do if approached by media?
· Generally, employees are not authorized to speak on behalf of UVU. If a media representative approaches you on campus, please tell them you are not authorized to speak on behalf of UVU and direct them to UVU’s Free Speech website.
What do students do if approached by media?
Students are under no obligation to speak to the media. If a media representative approaches you on campus, you have the right to decline to comment.
Safety and Security
What steps is UVU taking to address the safety concerns of students, faculty, staff, and the university community?
· UVU is committed to the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community visitors. Historically, UVU has been ranked as one of the safest universities in the country. UVU will be implementing increased security on campus as we heal from this tragic event, and we are committed to returning to the safety for which the university is known.
Will UVU implement increased security protocols for campus events?
· UVU is a public, open campus that holds various events. Events are reviewed on a case-by-case basis for the safety and security of all attendees and campus guests.
What will happen to the UVU Courtyard?
· Plans for the UVU Courtyard are under review.
Academics
· Can students take a pass/fail option for fall semester?
· UVU will not be providing a pass/fail option for fall semester.
Will the add/drop deadline be extended?
· The add/drop deadline is extended to Friday, Sept. 19, at 11:59 pm.

Mental Health Resources and Support
Where can I access mental health support?
The UVU community has been deeply affected by the violence on Sept. 10. We encourage everyone to seek mental health care, whether they witnessed the event or not. Information about mental health resources is below.
STUDENTS
In-person mental health counselors will be available to support students at the Young Living Alumni Center:
Saturday, Sept. 13 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 14 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 15 | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 16 and forward | Times and locations will be announced.
Virtual mental health support via TimelyCare is completely free, and students do not need insurance to access services. To receive a license, email deanofstudents@uvu.edu with your email and UV ID number.

How can I support UVU students?
Anyone wishing to support UVU students is welcome to donate to the UVU Student Emergency Fund, which provides direct support to students in need. If you would like to offer a form of support other than financial, please email socialimpact@uvu.edu and describe the support in your reply. UVU staff will get back to you as soon as possible.
