Winter Storm Update for Dec. 15

UVU is open and fully functioning today. Road conditions, parking lots, and walkways around campus are being maintained with careful consideration by our service staff.

We encourage employees and students commuting to school to be safe and avoid taking unnecessary risks. We ask faculty to work with students affected by the weather in completing their finals, and that departments accommodate faculty unable to travel to campus.

If bad weather persists throughout the day, we encourage all employees to consult with supervisors on flexible hours leaving from work and returning to their homes.

Weather & Road Conditions (Governor Recommendation)

To all employees:

Over the next 24 hours we will be experiencing weather that may create hazardous road conditions across the state. We encourage all employees living in affected areas to take the necessary precautions driving to and from work. In consultation with your supervisor, staff may leave work early today, and arrive later tomorrow as needed. We do ask supervisors to ensure that we maintain the essential functions of campus and support scheduled campus events.

While we are not cancelling finals, we do ask instructors to work with those students who may be significantly impacted by the weather. Students and faculty should not take unnecessary risks. We encourage faculty to work with students who cannot make it to their finals, and departments to work with faculty.

At this point, Utah Valley University remains open, as current condition of campus is well maintained throughout the storm. Our crews are working around the clock to maintain our parking lots, sidewalks, and other spaces safe. We appreciate all their efforts.
